Ken,
Try looking under the dash or take a door panel off and check the color
there. Another good spot is behind a mounting bolt such as one for one of
the rear shocks. When you find out the basic color (yellow, blue, red,
white, green, etc. then go to the web site and check the exact shade used on
your model year.
P. S. If someone did a proper color change frame-off restoration with
sandblasting, the only way to find out would be the Heritage Certificate.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I didn't say exactly what
I meant to in
my original message. What I'm trying to do is determine the
original color
of my car. Is there a way to do this without getting the
British Heritage
certificate? On my 71 TR6 the color code is on the vin
plate. I looked at
the Moss catalog last night, but couldn't find where the
paint info is
located. I have looked at various web sites and have seen
the various codes
for paint colors, I just don't know if that paint code is
actually on the
car somewhere.
Thanks,
Ken

Hello Ken,
The MGB's paint code is not a part of the VIN. The Moss MGB
parts catalog
has a listing of the paint formulae by years.
