You can rebuild them and it really isn't that hard if you get (have)
a reasonable manual.
But it can't hurt to buy a new one as well. Keep one in the trunk
for when this kind of stuff happens.

Subject: fuel pump leaking
Is it possible for a fuel pump on a 1500 79 midget to leak and still work
properly? I noticed a strong gas smell and I saw a drop of gas hanging on the
bottom of the fuel pump. I tightened all the connection but still have the
smell. When the pump is going bad will it leak? Can you rebuild the pump or
should I just buy a new one?
Thanks,
Steve k
