Chris,
One quick reason for not increasing the cap pressure on your car now is that 
everything in your car is 35 years old (unless you you have rebuilt or 
replaced everything).  This increase is certainly to cause a system failure 
somewhere in all that old stuff, which also was probably not designed to 
handle the higher pressure.  Next question, does your car have heating 
problems?  If so, run a 165 degress thermostat, keep the system full, make 
sure your timing isn't too high, make sure your carbs are properly adjusted 
(lean cars run hotter plus run worse), make sure your radiator is clean and 
the coiling cools are open and in good shape, use the later 6 blade fan ilo 
the 3 blade, and on and on.
