The bits in the gearbox that slush the oil up from the bottom do not rotate
when under tow.
But given that, there is usually a bit of oil around the rest of the bits if
the car has been driven recently.
So --- If a short distance dont bother, if longer then disconnect.
Problem is of course, what is a short distance. I would suggest a couple of
kilometers, but I'm sure that others have towed longer than this with no ill
effect.
Main thing is to be aware of the risks, make your own judgment call.
