3 bearing vs. 5 bearing MGB?

I am looking at a '64 MGB with a 3 bearing motor.  I have, however, just
been asked by somebody in the local MG Club, "...why a 64?  Has the engine
been replaced... the older 3 main was a lemon."

Can anybody share their views on the 3 bearing vs. 5 bearing engine?  Any
particular headaches with one over the other?  Anything I should be careful
to look for in the 3 bearing engine before I buy?
