Bob,
I could be wrong, but I believe that the only way to REALLY correct the
"Crack of Doom" is to replace the door skin.
I suppose you could screw some sort of plate over the crack to keep it
from getting worse if that look does not bother you.
However, I think most conventional body repair methods, i.e. bondo,
fiberglass, leading etc. will quickly fail from the vibration of the mirror.
Another option might be to move the mirrors to the wings. Having done that,
one of the above repair methods MIGHT work?
If you find a better way let me know, because I have the crack of doom as well
and I have been waiting until I have enough money to replace the door skins.
