These are drive rivets with a long coarse spiral on the shanks like a very
coarse thread right handed screw. Use a thin cut-off wheel in a hand
grinder (Dremmel tool) to cut a slot in the head. Then use a flat tip
screw driver (and wrench if necessary) to unscrew the rivet. This works
every time for me, at least a dozen times by now.
