As i wrote in an earlier mail, I have ordered lots of new parts from MGOC,
for my MG. They where shipped in two parcels, amd I have only received one.
But I have paid MVA ( =VAT) for the whole order. I have talked to MGOC, they
say that first one of the parcels was returned to them, they put on better
labels, then resent it to me. Then, the other was returned to them, at a
later date, so they will resend it to me. I am a bit worried, that i have to
pay double tax. Result anyway, delivery time up to 4 weeks, and more, for
the last packet. I ordered some parts from them earlier, that was late too,
guess I will check Moss next time.
Now: Seats
I have a 1970 model, seats have headrest, and a handle to adjust the back.
Vinyl cover of course.
I ordered new foam( cushion?), and new diaphragm. Got the foam, and webbing
instead. The foam looks OK, certainly feels better than the old. The head
rest was a &%¤ to remove. Small_FH, was used. The vinyl cover was 'rather'
easy to pull off, and here is my question:
Since the diaphragm and the web use different amounts of hooks, and the
placement of the holes on the seat frame is different also, can i just drill
new holes in the frame ? Or just drill some holes, where the diaphragm is
'softest' (close to the back) and install just two (
whataretheycalladjustone'string'ofthatweb?? I'm Norwegian remember) to get
some ekstra support ?
I think the foam was glued to the metal frame. The old foam may have been
glued to the vinyl. It is a bit difficult to see the difference between glue
an around 30 years of intimate closeness. Also any easy way, to slide the
foam/vinyl back. Foam first, then vinyl ? foam in vinyl ? Will I expand my
vocabulary ? ( Of &%¤)
I am working on the passenger seat, so I can still drive the car. I have
done the work in the house, so I have been sitting on the seat with only
foam, in the hall, pretending to be a MGB passenger. ( Saying wroom wroom is
for the driver)
A bit long as usual
