I don't think his price is too far out of line. I had been an estimator in
the body shop business for 4 years, until just recently. A decent
base/clear paint job starts at $1500, and the floor pans, dog legs, and
latch post repairs could very well be an average of $200 each. That leaves
$410 for inside the trunk, refinishing the floor and jambs, and the bufing.
Of course, I haven't actually seen your car, which makes this pretty much a
guessing game. I have either done most of these repairs myself, or written
estimates for other cars, so I think I'm in the ballpark. One thing to
remember, you get what you pay for. It is possible to get a $500 paint
job, but it will look like a cheap paint job. Since this shop has
experience with MGB's, that alone is worth something, don't you think?
