I've read the recent comments from Lawrie and others related to brake
bleeding techniques with interest -- as I'm in the middle of this process
myself.
I've got a problem. I bled my brakes last weekend and in the process,
noticed that I had a bad rear wheel cylinder. In this bleeding procedure, I
had plenty of fluid being expelled through the rear brake lines.
I've since redone both rear brake cylinders, pads etc, and even changed the
rear brake hose to be sure that it had not internally collapsed. Now, when
I try and bleed the rear brakes, I'm getting very little to no fluid through
the lines and the bleed screws. The front brakes/bleed screws produce
plenty of fluid.
I've tried the traditional brake pump/purge jar process and also tried using
a Mityvac....nothing.....the brake pedal continues through the range of
motion without much resistance. The master cylinder is not consuming any
fluid, that would indicate the rear lines are filling back up.
With the exception of the leak that I found at the rear when trying to do
some preventive bleeding/maintenance last weekend, the brakes were working
fine before I began this adventure.
Do I have a master cylinder problem/failure, air in the lines, an
obstruction???? looking for some advice please.
