Non-LBC - '89 IROC

I know this is not LBC related but I offered to ask you guys and help a
friend try and solve a problem he's having with his '89 IROC-Z Camaro.  He's
gone thru 5 alternators in the last 6 months and can't figure out why.
They've put it on a diagnostic machine and can't find anything wrong.  He
says it's going thru them faster and faster.  Anybody got any ideas??  or
maybe another list that might be able to help him.  At this point, he's
ready to give up and sell the car.
