The only real problems comes when you hook up the antenna to the radio. 
In order to keep ignition noise out of the radio you need to have the 
antenna coax shield grounded to the car body. In years past I have tried 
capacitor in series with the shield but the noise is still their. A 
non-solid state(tube only) radio would work but not easy to find.
