Darren:
I'm definitely not the guy to ask about this, but I will put this out on the
MG List & see if the experts have a suggestion. The '80 is auto-choke, so
perhaps the choke is stuck open or perhaps some of the carburetor linkage is
gummed-up from non-use.
Good luck,
Steve

Steve,

I have a 1980 MGB which I store at my house in Toronto. Being winter up in
the great white north the car is not at all used during the winter months.
To keep the car in good condition I start it once a month and let it idle
for about 20 minutes. Last night, the evening was mild, so I started the
car. My MG had no trouble starting, but, when started, it would idle in
full throttle. If you have any idea of what this could be, along with a
list of parts needed and prices could you please e-mail it to me.

Much Appreciated,

Darren
