Several months ago I bought the wife a 1980 MGB LE (Ladies Edition). This car
is an original beauty with 44,000 miles, hardtop, AC, and the original COCOA
Mats, Window sticker, etc. In it's early life it was driven by a 16 year old,
so we had to install a new clutch and do a little Tranny work but she runs
like a dream now.
Now, I need to get the AC going before the summer weather hits. The AC has
not worked for a number of years. Every thing is there and I believe that the
compressor is OK. I need some advice as to the best approach.
Do I stick with the old freon?
Do I convert - is it possible, practical, sensible?
What traps do I look for?
Can any ole' auto AC repair service do the job?
Anyone know of a place in central NC that would be best for the job?
Anything that I have forgot to ask?
I do not want to do anything until I hear from the collective wisdom of this
group.
