If merrory serves me correctly Bosh and lucas coils have internal resistors,
Not the sport coil though, Some Bs even have a resistor wire to the coil,
I believe the idea in using the resistor in line in not just to reduce the
voltage
but for the prevention of voltage spikes , Back feed from the electronic
ignitions
frying gages, bulbs ect. Ford for one early on in elect .
ignitions had a resistor in line to their cluster to prevent this, GM used
fuesable
links to work as both and Chryslers was in line before the coil.
But if it works it works I would think the mafg. knows more than I and would
like to
avoid the problem. I would go with the Crane performance coil, Its the same
money
and its designed to work with electronic systems.
