Well, when we bought a newly-constructed home three years ago, I went in
and epoxy'd the whole floor. It took two [containers. were they quarts
or gallons? You had to mix in a catalyst...] and I mixed in the
recommended sand to make it non-slip. It's still holding up great, and
has never come up under a tire. The only blemish is where my front
disks froze once and the rear tire spun a bit of paint off.
Note that they recommend a thorough cleaning, acid treatment, and rinse
before applying to a previously oil-stained floor. Since my floor was
new and had only the marks of a dropped hamburger on it, I did no
preparation. I used a big foam roller and long handle, so it was like
mopping the floor. I put down two coats. You only have to wait a couple
hours between coats. Ventilate well, the ammonia fumes will get to you.
The only gripe is when I try to slide under the car without anything between
me and the floor. Sandpaper! The sand does not go down very evenly.
perhaps spreading it on the wet paint would have been better than mixing it in?
