The Leyland Special Tuning manual for the MGB says,
"Before replacing the cylinder head studs slightly countersink (not too
heavily) the tops of the threaded holes in the cylinder block. This will
enable the head to pull down around the studs and seal more efficiently."
Have you tried this, and do you find that it helps head gasket sealing?
