Frank,
I just did the rockers, sills and floorpans. After trying an
Arc welder (120v) that I rented, I managed to find a friend with a
220v MIG with wire feed. Don't even try using a 120v Arc, there
is not enough power to weld the 3-4 layers that you have when
replacing the sills. I bought replacement sills and floorpans at
Victoria British and cut as necessary with auto body shears
(like tin shears but can cut curves and angles). I did not feel the
need to relpace the floorpans all the way back (yes they are one piece
from toe to behind the seat). You will need a good hand held electric
griner also to clean up the welds. On warning !!!!! DO NOT get lazy and=
weld the rocker panel to the outside of the dash side assembly (this
is the piece underneeth the front fender that covers the the side of th=
e
floor area). This will cause the rocket panel to stick out from the car=
to far and WILL NOT align with the door correctly!!! You must separate
the welds where the old rocker panel fit into and remove the old one an=
d
insert your new one and re-weld. I did it right on one side and got laz=
y
on the other and I am quite mad at myself NOW!
good luck and take your time. (VB catalog 800-255-0088)
