Last week, it was suggested that I replace A-arm bushes in the front
end to improve tire alignment. Perusing Moss and VB catalogs this
weekend, I found that they offer kits in addition to individual pieces. How
should one determine how far to go with this? How do I tell whether it is
the rubber that is bad or some other metallic part is worn out? I don't
want to replace a few pieces now and have to tear it apart again in a
few months or whatever. What's the general feeling - replace as much
as you can afford or only what's obviously shot?
And what about reaming the bushings? Do all bushings require reaming?
Is there a substitute for the reamer offered in the catalogs? I can't
afford to purchase the reamer. Any suggestions?
I've received a lot of advice and help from folks on this list and I really
appreciate it. Otherwise, my mechanic would be a lot richer. Also,
working on my car (when done correctly) is gratifying and a boost to my
sometimes battered pysche. Last night was a beautiful evening for a
drive in the Montana hinterlands (it doesn't get dark until 1000-1030
here).
Thanks again for all of the help - Gary Davis
