Thanks for all the replies to my first post.  I tried all the suggestions
and (at least as far as my limited expertise goes) nothing worked.  It is
now sitting in a LBC repair shop.  I call tomorrow to get the verdict.  I'm
sure (wishful thinking) that it will be something simple and minor :)
