BILL, I RECENTLY MANAGED TO "OVERCLOSE" MY HOOD ALSO. SOUNDS LIKE YOUR'S =
IS IN THE SAME SITUATION MINE WAS IN. AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS OF =
BRILLIANT IDEAS, I FINALLY GOT A PIECE OF FLAT STEEL ABOUT 1/4" THICK & =
3/4" WIDE & LONG ENOUGH TO REACH THRU THE GRILLE. DRILL A LARGE HOLE IN =
THE CORNER AT THE END. THEN, ABOUT 3-4" BACK, VISE IT AND TWIST IT 90". =
THIS WAY, WHEN YOU SLIDE IT THRU THE GRILLE, IT WILL BE HORIZONTAL BY =
THE LATCH, BUT VERTICAL AT THE SLATS OF THE GRILLE. SORRY ABOUT YOUR =
HOOD. SAM

"So it goes" is also one of my favorite Kurt Vonnegut Jr. lines. He =
uses it
often.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. If it makes you feel any better, I'll =
tell
you
a story of similiar MGA woes. =20
This happened 28 years ago when I was 16. Had an MGA, my first car. =
The=20
driver door latch was finicky. NOT ONCE, but TWICE the door popped open =
as
I=20
was backing up and got ripped off the car. Once I was backing out of =
the=20
garage, and once it got caught on a clothes pole in the yard. =20
Of course it popped open many times going forward and backward. After =
the=20
second hinge replacement I finally fix the latch properly. =20
I also had the rear wheel fall off once. Fortunately it got stuck up =
inside
the wheel well and no serious damage to the car or me. I always =
suspected
someone loosened the lug nuts. They had all fallen off and none of the
threads
were damaged.=20
I probably had more patience then. As both you and Billy Joel said "and =
so
it
goes"
