Philip,

I know the enjoyment derived from solving these problems yourself, but
this is about the time I would haul that puppy over to my brother's
machine shop and see what he can do.  Sometimes heavy machinery works
better than hand tools.  These guys remove difficult, frozen in, parts
like that every day.  If all else fails, take it somewhere and ask if
they can do it and how much.  I bet they can do in minutes what would
have taken you days, and probably would be very cheap.
