Side light grounding

Are the signal/head/position lights on an MGB grounded through
the metalwork or through the wiring?

  My fenders are fiberglass, so I am curious if I am getting
all the grounds I should be getting. The "ground" wire for the
headlights looks especially dim to be carrying all that current.
