Here's yet another well-discussed subject.
I took the B to the muffler shop today to get an expert opinion. The crappy
repair kit didn't work (what a surprise). I think it made it worse in fact,
now I get a headache from fumes entering the cockpit! The downpipe and welds
are the main culprit.
So...now I'm looking at exhausts so I can drive the B without passing out.
(Yeah...so much for a new set of tires for now!)
How difficult is it to get a header on with the engine in the car? Remove
the intake manifold, etc..obviously...but is it worth it? The exhaust
manifold seems fine, all the leaks are at the joint to the downpipe and
behind.
I'm thinking of just ordering the downpipe and having them put a cherry bomb
or Flowmaster on, as mentioned...
OR, I noticed Proper MG has a system that hooks to the stock manifold -- the
one with the "twin pipes", "Made in England", part # PEX005 for $170. I
don't see it in the Moss catalog. Any experience with this system???
TIA for all and any comments. Taking aspirin after every drive doesn't seem
too healthy!
