You asked about "heel and toe." No its not a dance step; its the proper
procedure to
slow (quickly) for a turn, downshift and accelerate out.
1. Go flying into that turn with your foot deep into the accelerator, way past
the point
where your competition brakes.
2. At the very last moment, remove your right foot from the accelerator; with
the ball
of your right foot (referred to as your "toe"), quickly stab the brakes.
3. The rest requires that your car is properly equipped with a clutch pedal.
Moreover,
the brake should be positioned close to the accelerator (laterally) and its
height off
the floor should be such that when you mash it down with the ball of your right
foot it
is approximately at the level of the accelerator pedal.
4. Declutch de clutch while keeping your right foot-ball on the brake.
5. Shift into neutral.
6. With the clutch de-clutched, (still holding down that brake pedal), tip the
right
edge of your right foot (called your "heel") down to blip the throttle.
7. Lift your left foot off the clutch momentarily and down again ("double
clutch").
8. Shift into the lower gear.
9. Remove left foot from clutch while sliding your right foot fully on the the
accelerator.
10. Perform all of the above in a fraction of a second.

Hear, Hear! And while one the subject of worthless topics...
It seems everyone out there knows how to heel/toe (and what it is,
exactly), except me. Since we're wasting bandwidth anyway, does anyone
care to explain it to me?
Thanks!
