Plus, who really wants 320 HP in a TR6 or MGB without many more $$$ in
brakes and suspension. What does even 55 lbs do to handling when it's stuck
out over the front wheels like that?
Mind, I don't mind engine swaps too much. And I have no "Brit Car Guy"
aversion to American iron -- seeing as how my Interceptor came with a
Chrysler 440. It's just that these 'simple' comparisons aren't always so
simple. Reminds me of the Monty Python lessons on building a bridge, "You
start on one side, and go all the way over to the other."
There was a web site somewhere listing various engine weights. I'll have to
do some searching.

S-III Land-Rover, oh yes, a Rover 3500 would fit nicely, but who wants 150+
horsepower in a Series Rover?
The Ford engine weight that was listed is very close if not right on; the
TR6 weight I have no idea if it's correct or not.
Ford Motorsports had the 302, complete, in GT 4 bbl. form for sale for about
2000 bucks......but that's not really the story.
The real advantage to the average driver is the large torque increase. It
simply makes the car more driveable....no more rowing up hills. The
Rover/Buick does the same to a lesser extent.
As to the weight distribution, if the engine is located properly, there is no
reason that a good weight distribution couldn't be reached.
Yes.....I'd uprate the brakes. A booster, better linings, larger calipers
and vented discs would be the order of the day.
As to cost...I suspect that it is cheaper to 'build' a current Ford
smallblock than a discontinued Buick engine.
It is all just a thought.....there's a butt for every seat!
