I don't have a real answer for you about the dehumidifier water.
However, this summer I found that my fishtank pH was about 7.4. I
checked the town water at the tap and found it to be 7.2. Out of
curiosity, I tested the dehumidifier water, and found it to be 6.4, so
was able to adjust the water in the tank using the two sources.
From what I read, it's the minerals in the water (hard water or soft
water) that make the difference to the battery. "Soft" water, wherein
soap lathers up profusely, is supposed to be better for the battery.
"Hard" water, if you boil it for a long time, will leave deposits on the
side of the pan. If those dissolve with vinegar, then it's hard water.
