Okay,  I'm trying out a different mechanic and "James" my 79B was cranky
in the am, so, anyway after a day at the shop he (the mechanic not
James) said the gulp valve wasn't working and he bypassed it.  Also if
there still is backfireing on deceleration I should disconnect the air
pump belt and that will fix it.  Remember I live in the desert and we
don't have inspection requirements here.
