Well I finally got the engine swapped from one 71-B to another, plus
the dash, wiring harness, rear end and front hubs (to switch from disks
to wires). Had a bit of a problem with a sticky float that allowed the
gass to flow through the carb and come out the charcoal canister
overflow, but that was resolved.
Everything working pretty well, except I have no response from the
water temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, and gas gauge. I know,
sounds like a bad ground, but I checked the black common wire runing
from these gauges to chassis ground with an ohm meter and I have
continuity.
But maybe I have high resistance, enough for continuity, but am
experiencing a voltage drop because of it? I dunno!! Any ideas?
BTW, if there is anyone local that needs a part from a 71 MGB that is
destined for the local boneyard, drop me a note. I don't want to get
involved in shipping stuff out, but if you want it and I got it, you can
have it for free, just come pick it up. You might have to remove it,
but I do have an 18 GK block with crank, cam, timing chain, sitting in
the boot. Also a non-OD tranny, but must be removed.
