Hi Michael, It sounds like general engine wear, to me. The wet/dry compression test indicates worn rings. I would expect the rest of the engine (Valve guides, rod bearings, etc.) to have worn equally as the rings wore. My belief is that the worn rod bearings, etc., would allow your oil to seep back into the sump, rather than fully lubricating the valve train. That would explain the valve clatter.
