The water pumps on these cars are not known for their strength. If it was me, I would replace the stock fan with an electric one, mounts easily through the radiator. Western Auto, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, or any oval track speed shop should have them. If your pump is okay, keep it until it leaks or squeals. An electric fan offers 1) more cooling efficiency than a pump-driven fan 2) less power loss (and you have so little left to lose) 3) longer water pump life. Just my 2 c worth |
