Fuel Pump Question

I just became the proud owner of a yet to be named 73 MG B. I finally
got the interior replaced, but on my second road trip the fuel pump
died. Luckily, I was only a few hundred yards from the house, so it
limped home.

I am quite sure it is the fuel pump, I took the discharge line off the
pump, and the fuel was just trickling out. I then took off the suction
to determine if the pump was getting fuel and it was. It currently has
some sort of aftermarket fuel pump installed thanks to the previous
owner. The pump is getting power, as I can hear and feel the impeller
spinning.

My questions are:

1) Should I go ahead and replace with an OEM fuel pump,
which is around 95 dollars, or replace it with a similar aftermarket
fuel pump, and if so, any suggetions?

2) Does anyone have any suggestions to make the change simpler? Do I
have to drain the fuel tank etc.?

Any advice / assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I would really
like to get my baby back on the road.

Thanks,

Glenn (Another one of the seemingly many under 25 year old members of this
