Kai,

I'm not sure I would give you the work either - something about child labor-
I'm sure my lawyer would advise me to stay away from entering a contract with
a minor - So, I'm not sure that the reason you did not get the job is
because of your youth - more likely it had to do with your age!

Let me add some more to my previous message:

It is the MAJORITY of people who think this way, in the past few minutes
I have thought of several examples of older people thinking I was less
capable
or less knowledgable. MG, TR, AH, JAG, Chevy, Ford, IBM, Apple, etc.
These
people all think the same way.

A few months ago, I was asked to design a website for Computer CO. in
Calif.
Anyway every thing was ok until the owner of the co. visited my site and
found
out I was 15. Well I don't know why that made a difference, I talked to
him on
the phone and he didn't realize it then (I have excellent verbal skills).
He didn't
realize it in the way I designed sites. It was the sentence "Kai Radicke
is 15"
and then he saw my picture. Gee, it is a rather nice photo also. I am
waring
a baseball cap, a polo shirt and I have my sports trophies in the
backround.

He had contacted several other Internet Development companies also. I
quoted
him a price of $5000 for a full commerce ready site. That covered
graphics, programming,
CGI, HTML, layout, etc. Well I know my price was very low, I know this
because at that
time the average hourly wage for HTML was ~ $65, I was charging $35.
Pretty damn good,
if you ask me. The site required a ton of work and my estimate was that it
would be
well over 100 pages big. It is currently it is well over 120, and I could
have done a better job.

The employee that was in charge of heading the website project told me over
the phone:
How much can you know about HTML, you are only 15, what experience do you
have.
Anyway i banged off a few sites I had done work on.....and he said he would
check back.
Well anyway, he never did...I got an email a few days later, thanking me
for my quote and it was CCed
to 4 other Web design houses, so I quickly checked out each site, and from
their sites
I quickly deduced the only reason I didn't get the job was becuase I was
15. I had
the best prices, I have the ability, I have the experience......but that
didn't matter.

Cheers,
