grease fitting pedal shaft TD

Just tried and tried and tried to fit a new grease fitting onto the
pedal shaft of my TD. The threads looked a bit rusty so I used lockeze
and WD 40 overnite. Still couldn't get the fitting to screw in. 

Can anyone tell me the size tap I need for that pedal shaft fitting. I
will try that avenue next.
