This race/road usage argument seems to be missing the point. Most
'sprint' races will only be 20 miles in length (based on UK
experience), so if you race 12 times a year thats 20 miles per race
with probably another 20 for practice total about 500 miles. Even
over 10 years thats only 5,000 miles.

Most amatuers would change the hoses somewhere about then -
profesional teams don't expect them to last that long and probably
change them at least every year maybe every race.

The service interval data in an MG factory workshop manual suggests
changing brake hoses every 3 years or 36,000 miles, mind you that was
in the 60's these days people don't generally do preventative
maintanance - if its not broke don't fix it! The point is if the
factory say change them every 3 years they probably expect it to
happen every 10.

I don't think the brake hoses see significantly more stress or a
harser enviroment on the race track.

Also, if you have an incident on the track that leads to an accident
can you tell what was damaged before rather than during the accident?

Sorry to keep the thread going, but I've been reading it with
interest.

Dave
