I was in Pep Boys (a large discount auto parts store here in Texas and I
believe started in California) this past week.  They had a display
advertising rebuilt short-block engines for numerous makes of cars.  Just
out of curiosity I checked to see if there was anything for MG's.  Turns
out that they listed a short-block MGB (1800) engine!  I don't know if they
are actually available, since I wasn't interested enough to pursue it, but
I think the price was around $700.
