Hello Tom.
Before you you get permatex in there, be sure that all the parts are 
there at the end of the line from the jet and that there is not an old 
o-ring stuck in the hole.  The line should have a brass sleeve on the 
inside, an o-ring, a brass washer, then another o-ring then the nut 
which screws into the float bowl.
