I've been running DOT 5 in my '58 MGA for ten years now, no brake switch
failure. If DOT 5 actually caused these failures I would expect them all to
fail within some predictable period of time, probably a lot less than ten
years. I also flush the fluid every 2 years like clockwork, and the ten year
old seals are also OK throughout.
