Here's the deal. I have had an niggling problem with the front SU on my '68
roadster for years. Simply put, it will occassionally spill gasoline all
over - particularly after an invigorating highway run. I've
changed/inspected/cleaned/adjusted the float, it's pin, the gross jet,
replaced that with an original (problem continued) so back to the gross jet.
Once found that the vent was blocked by a collapsed rubber hose from the
carb to the down tube.
I thought I had it cured until my exhuberant little drive last night. Felt
it starting to miss a bit at speed, particularly when backing off the gas,
then accelerating. At idle, it was running extremely rich, and practically
stalled. A quick blip of the accelerator would smooth things out.....but
when I pulled into my garage, it spewed gas right out the vent, on onto the
garage floor.
I'm headin' out to the garage now to remove the float chamber top, and go
through the whole exercise - again.
Any thoughts/experiences/tips? BTW, never a problem with the rear carb???
Thanks in advance...
