Will:
Give this a shot. Rent a car for a few days. Get some nice, air-conditioned
shock-absorbed insulated Toyota or something ... something with an auto
tranny and a radio. Drive it to work for a few days.
My friend, it's not your car. I think this will prove it to you. Or, it
will prove to you that you need something else for the commute to work. It's
an inexpensive way to try 'the other side' for a bit, and see where you are
now.
I use my 75 B for most work driving, but occasionally I drive the Rabbit
instead, because it has things the B doesn't (back seat, for example).
Having had Rags off the road for nearly a year now, I can tell you, I MISS
MY B. Even in bloody awful traffic. Sometimes, the B can be a frustrating
car to drive on today's roads in today's traffic. It is, after all, a 20+
year old car, designed in some ways for a different era. Don't let that
spoil the fun of what it's really, really good for ... enjoyable driving.
And I contend it is NOT a frumpy looking car atall. Haruumph.
