20+ years ago there was a New England MG-T Register member who used spray
cans to repaint his black TD. As I recall, it took many cases of spray
cans and in the end cost almost as much as a decent compressor, spray gun,
and bulk paint would have. It looked pretty good and won best of class at
several NEMGTR GoF's, but that was a long time ago before multi-megabuck
professional restorations became the norm. In those days the popular
voting was more likely to lean toward a good DIY restoration done with
spray cans even if the next car in line was professionally done. Sigh...

Yes, you can repaint your TD with spray cans, but it's a lot easier and
not much more expensive to get a compressor and spray gun and teach
yourself to use them. A good spray gun will give you much greater
control over pattern and flow, so the results will be more predictable.
Spray cans are OK for the odd small part, but that's all.

If cars had evolved as fast as computers have, by now they'd cost a
quarter, run for a year on a half-gallon of gas, and explode once a day.
