SORRY I JOINED IN SO LATE AS I JUST SUBSCRIBED TO THIS GROUP
GLEN -REGARDING YOUR MIDGET
I'M MAKING A COUPLE OF ASSUMPTIONS HERE SINCE I DID'NT SEE THE ORIGINAL
POST. I'M ASSUMING (YES I KNOW THE RULE OF ASS-U-ME)
1) THE CAR HAS RUN RECENTLY
2) THE CAR IS IN A GENERAL GOOD STATE OF TUNE (VALVES AND POINTS ADJUSTED
CORRECTLY,COIL CLEAN AND NOT LEAKING ) YOU SAID THAT THERE IS A SPARK FROM
THE WIRE TO THE PLUG . I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHETHER THERE IS A GOOD SPARK AT
THE PLUG(IF YOU REMOVE THE PLUG FROM THE ENGINE AND PUT THE PLUG WIRE ON
IT, HOLD IT TO THE BLOCK WITH SOMETHING INSULATED SO YOU DON'T GET A GNARLY
SHOCK,
IF THE PLUG FAILS TO SPARK THERE .THERE IS YOUR FAULT.) HOWEVER PLUGS CAN
SPARK OUT OF THE CAR ONLY TO FAIL TO SPARK UNDER COMPRESSION(FOR A COUPLE
OF REASONS OLD PLUGS,WEAK COIL, WIRES OLD AND BRITTLE LEAKING SPARK TO
GROUND.
THE FACT THAT EITHER(SP?) WON'T PRODUCE A TINY RUNNING SPELL IS CURIOUS
AND LEADS BACK TO THE PLUG TEST.
UNLESS OF COURSE THE VALVES ARE SO POORLY ADJUSTED THAT THERE IS NO
INTAKE OR VERY LITTLE.
ONE LAST THING ,ALTHOUGH YOU WILL USUALLY GET AT LEAST A BACKFIRE CHECK
THE FIRING ORDER OF THE PLUG WIRES (I'VE BEEN TO MANY PEOPLES HOUSES TO
FIND THEY TRIED TO TUNE-UP THEIR CARS THEMSELVES AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY
CHANGED THE CAP AND ROTOR BUT THE WIRES MADE IT BACK 90 DEGREES OFF)
IF THIS DOES'NT HELP OR IF IT JUST CONFUSES YOU MORE GIVE ME A CALL
AND I'LL TRY TO HELP YOU A LITTLE MORE WITH YOUR PROBLEM.
