Hello Everyone,

One more question! I have a Smith's dual oil press./water temp
gauge in my '76 Midget. The oil pressure gauge works fine, but the temp.
gauge was disconnected and replaced with a small "cheapy" temp gauge from
K-Mart. Not too long ago I removed all of gauges from the dash and cleaned
them inside and out. I would really like to get rid of the "cheapy" and
repair the original gauge. I read in the Hayes manual that the old line
running from the gauge to the thermostat housing, (which I still have 1/4
of still connected to the back of the gauge itself), was mercury filled.
Does anyone out there have any resources that deal with the repair of
gauges such as this? If worse comes to worse I guess I'll have to buy a new
dual gauge and have the face of the old gauge placed over the face of the
new gauge by a machine shop or such. Unless I can find a replacement
Smith's gauge that closely matches my existing gauges. Any comments or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Roland-
