Re: popping during shifting One of the symptoms of a EGR system diaphragm being stuck is popping during sudden engine decels (like during shifting). Use the eraser end of a pencil or other blunt instrument to gently push from the bottom side, hopefully freeing the diaphragm of the EGR valve.
