Terry,
My guess would be plug leads or, more possibly, the connections at each end
(including the coil lead).
Get yourself a test meter which will check resistance and measure the
resistance in each lead. The maxixmum resistance should be 8 Ohms per foot
of lead. Make sure you pick up the distributor end from inside the
distributor cap (this will check the terminals on the end of the lead). If
you get excessive resistance it could be the terminals rather than the lead
so do not be too hasty in throwing them away. The screw in terminals on the
distributor caps are particularly prone to high resistance.
Loss of power under load is normally caused by poor leads and a good looking
spark plug does not mean a breakdown.
