I don't wish to enter this fray, just set the record straight....the Official
workshop manual for the MG TD and TF that I hold right here in my hand
recommends either S.A.E. 80 or 90 for the gearbox...depending on the
manufacturer of the oil.....I've used these in my Rib cage and I've used
20-50w and 30w without apparent damage....now that I have a Datsun 5 speed
bolted to the 1275, I use 80/90 wt. My opinion is that as long as there is
enough lube in there, you are ok.
