Thanks to all who helped, we now have two working signals.. The fix was to
limber them up after a shot  of WD40. If anyone wants to see the car it is
pictured in the Victoria MG Club home page, the URL is part of my signature.
Again many thanks, we just had a great time driving out to lunch with the
