While reconditioning the distributor on 75 B i came across a problem
whereby the person who previously changed the point had put a longer than
required screw into the moveable plate, it consequently ran into the
lower stationary plate locking the two together. Thus the auto advance
was inoperative when called for by the vacuum unit.
Now I don't know whether the vacuum unit is shot after beiing in this
fixed state, the lever coming out of the vacuum unit is very hard to
depress (mimicing a pull on the manifold).
Does anyone know how to test this (outside the car as engine removed at
present) and what the pressure required to operate the unit should be,
and is there
any measuring device, apart from machine shop equipment that can obtain this?
