I wonder if anyone on your fine team can assist me.
I purchased a Jaguar green, rebodied, 1966 registered MGB roadster complete
with installed Rover V8 and a Costello oil leaking gear box. The car is nicely
equipped with burled wood dash, lowered suspension, anti tramp bars, modern
minilites and a reported 1992/4 Heritage body with soso fitting trunk lid and
cloth interior Does this sound familiar to anyone...David Gable feels that he
also knows the car as one which Robin Weatherall might have owned (but perhaps
with a different motor)
Unlike many of the cars I have seen in the past, this one is still Lucas/Bosch
fuel injected and has the Costello plenum cover.
I and several more knowledgeable MGB people have been unable to get this car
to run correctly. Note, it does run but not well by any stretch of the
imagination.
Seems to be an electrical nightmare...reportedly, the fuel pump runs with
ignition in "On" position but when the motor is cranked the fuel pressure
drops below limits...this apparently also happens when motor is running. I
have previously fitted a variable rate fuel pressure regulator as per
recommendations of a V-8 specialist firm in UK but that hasn't helped any but
neither did it make things worse at the time it was fitted.
I'm out of ideas and alternate skilled MGB people to turn to. I live in the
Hickory/Statesville NC area and would really appreciate any pointers help or
guidance.
Hoping for a lead with thanks in advance...thanks, thanks, thank you so
much.....
