Edd,
Where is the block too wide to fit in the 'B and what part of the engine bay would need to be worked on? Somewhere I have a book on the development of the LS1, and I thought I recall reading that one of the design requirements was that it had to fit in the same envelope as the old 350 (though I could be making that up). While not totaly scientific, I'm using an engineering ruler to scale between photos of a LS1 bare block and a 350 bare block, and I can't find and substantial differences, in fact the absence of the oil filter mount seems to make the 350 look larger at some points. I know that the "bat-wing" oil pan used for the corvette would be too big, but the stock sumps are no wider than the crank case.
The reason I'm asking is because I was getting ready to unload my second Rover 4.6L block and start acquiring LS1/LS6 parts.
Thanks!
James J.

The Chevy is too wide to install without major surgery. If you have the
engine try a TR7/TR8 . it's a lot wider in the engine bay.
